Recording
Some of you might not need all the details to convince you to get this excellent quality brand. Nevertheless, the following illustrates how we tested this media. We used Taiyo Yuden 52x CD-R media with a Sony DVD writer. Our 52x CD writer ended up burning at a speed of nearly 52x The entire burn took just under 2 minutes! We recorded a 750MB CD. This is a very impressive burn rate for an 52X CD. A lot of blank CD media will claim 52x, but will never burn at that rate.
Speed Test
Our 52x CD burner was able to burn at nearly the full 52X while using the 52X Media. Again, some blank media will claim to support 52X, but due to inperfections on the disc, the CD burner needs to slow down to avoid writing to bad sections. There was none of this with the Taiyo Yuden brand.
Verification
VSO Inspector was used to check the recorded CD for any bad sectors that might be present. We tested 10 different CD burns. There was absolutely no bad sectors during the scan. VSO Inspector showed no errors reported during its scan of the Taiyo Yuden 52x CD-R media.
Playback
We burned 10 different CDs. For each, we tested in several computers and 3 different CD players including two car cd players. In every device we tried, the Taiyo Yuden 52x-R media was recognized, and played without problems.
Errors
The tests show that very low PI/PIF errors were reported. This was a full CD recording on the Sony 52X burner at an average speed of just under 52x. The Jitter was also extremely low and consistent with an average of 8.14% and a maximum of 9.8%, indicating a well balanced disc during recording.
Conclusion
The Taiyo Yuden 52x CD-R Blank media is our favorite! During multiple test, it performed above standards at 52x onsistently. Most importantly with a recordable media, the Taiyo Yuden 52x-R media also passed all the verification tests. No errors where found and we had a reliable backup of our source CDs even at 52x recording speeds. There is no reason you should buy any other type of media. For about thirty cents or less per blank, how can you justify saving a few cents on another brand when you have no idea how it will perform? Never use anything else again!
